Capcom’s profits are up 290 percent from last year and they are partially giving credit to the great success of Dragon’s Dogma.  The game has sold far more than 1 million copies worldwide since it was released which is an impressive improvement over previous Capcom games released last year which did very bad overall.  Capcom’s revenue for the quarter was $283 million which is 56 percent higher than last year, and revenue was up 290 percent at $16.88 million.

Resident Evil 6 is gearing up for its release in October which is expected to give another big boost to Capcom.  The revenue and profits for this quarter greatly surpassed what Capcom had expected and profits were almost six times as much as Capcom was looking to achieve.  Originally it was predicted that the game developer would have revenue up by 27.9 percent and profits up by 45.7 percent which is quite a bit lower than it ended up being.

Even though Capcom was able to do good this quarter, that is not something most game developers can say.  The gaming industry as a whole is doing so bad right now that they are guaranteed to not be coming out with any profit this year.  Capcom is going to capitalize on the success of Dragon’s Dogma sometime in the next year or so with a sequel to the game.
