A new vulnerability was discovered around a week ago in Java 7 causing a lot of issues since then.  This vulnerability allowed hackers to hack a person’s computer very quickly by having a user simply visit a malicious website with a Java 7 applet.  Most attack complaints have been about Windows-based computers although tests show that this could be used on other operating systems like OS X.
