Twitter must identify anti-Semitic tweeters in France
A French court has ordered that Twitter identify anti-Semitic tweeters within France or begin to face fines of $1,300 each day they do not comply. This was requested by a Jewish student union and rights group.
The issue with this order is that being specific in what people can tweet and being fined for allowing everything EXCEPT for anti-Semitic tweets will not go over well, and will likely lead to Twitter banning all “hateful” tweets. While I prefer to not see tweets that are hateful or racist, Twitter has always been a forum in which you can say just about any of your opinions without there being an issue, but this ruling could change that.
