B&N Backing Away from the Nook
The award winning Barnes & Noble Nook series of electronic books have been much less successful than Barnes & Noble had hoped. The recent downfall in Nook sales have made B&N’s executives rethink if they truly want to make their own e-reader hardware.
Executives from B&N have noted that there is absolutely no plan to leave the Nook, but according to sources from the New York Times B&N will move the production of the Nook to third party developers. A B&N spokesperson said that they would no be moving away from making their own hardware but that could also just be a hold off till the official 3rd quarter result conference on February 28th.
